Sadly, there are very few places for severely disabled children’s families in West London to go in the school holidays – or in their free time in general. Parks, playgrounds, public leisure centres and museums are simply often not made accessible to them.
A rare exception is the specialist hydrotherapy pool at Jack Tizard School. This provides a safe place in which families, including non-disabled siblings, can have fun together and enjoy each other’s company as other families do.
Families can also play together in an accessible, friendly and supportive environment.
Trained staff ensure the children and their families are fully supported and feel safe throughout.
The Big Splash Trust funds the opening up of the hydrotherapy pool to local severely disabled children and their families during school holidays after school and Saturdays.
This has been a huge hit with families.
We are raising funds to continue opening up the pool during these times.
